Excessive Unreal 2 is one of the most chaotic, stupid, hilarious, and insane mods ever made for Unreal Tournament, and it has incredibly well-balanced, action-packed gameplay. It is set in Hell on Na Pali, and is completely over-the-top with absurdly powerful weapons and giant hordes of a huge variety of enemies. It's Unreal like you've never seen it before.

If you like Serious Sam, Doom, and Unreal - especially when blended together in the most absurd (yet somehow perfect) way - this mod is for you. You can download it here on ModDB or from links provided on the EXU2 Forums. Head there for further details!

Originally, EXU was a retake of Unreal's singleplayer campaign using a variety of crazy monsters and the Excessive UT arsenal, hence the name. Now, though, there's EXU2, which is bigger and better in every possible way.

EXU2: Batshit Insane, the singleplayer map pack, is built with EXU2's ridiculous weapons and monsters, and is set in dramatically-modified Unreal maps (plus a few new ones). Open Beta currently ships with the first SIXTEEN playable maps and an intro map! You'll tear through hordes of wildly varied enemies with weapons as diverse as they are devastating.

And if that's not enough, you can also use EXU2's plethora of weapons, items, and enemies in multiplayer games or botmatches using any combination of EXU2's mutators. Turn any game into an Excessive discord spree by swapping Unreal or UT guns with EXU2's, adding monsters, and other fun stuff!

Open Beta? Wait, what?


This mod is currently in Open Beta mode, which means that while it is fully playable and released, it is not finished! Beta means beta. A lot of bugs remain, along with things that need to be polished / fixed / completed. But this gives you an opportunity to contribute! You can report any bugs or problems you encounter, especially issues with gameplay, and post about them in each version's release thread, which will always be a sticky near the top in the forum.

You are also highly encouraged to make your own EXU2 levels and content if you feel so inclined! Post a thread for your content on the forums and I'll support it as best as I can. Do keep in mind, though, that Open Beta assets will be updated frequently, so gameplay and technical balance may shift from patch to patch. I will try to be as transparent about changes as possible so you know what to expect.

So if you download EXU2 Open Beta, feel free to help me smooth it out by messing around and pointing out the rough patches!

FUN/BAD TIMES APPROACHETH

OK, I'll freely admit - I'm not the greatest at keeping this page up to date. Or the mod itself, in terms of public releases. But to be fair, I've been bustin' ass working on the gameplay, code backend, level design, features, etc. Everything. And it's all coming along SO WELL.

I really want to get a new update pushed out fairly soon. ModDB still only has the download links for the v5 editions, while the EXU Forums have the v6 content, but v6 doesn't include the full loadout of campaign maps yet - only 1-11.

I need to finish Map 12's remake, then replay 13-16 since I haven't touched those in years. They'll likely need some modernization for the v6 codebase before they're ready to roll.

Once I get Maps 1-16 all packed up and pushed out the gate, I'm looking forward to starting something fresh for the campaign. Maybe a new map from scratch? We'll just have to see!

I'd like to include some screenshots of new stuff, but most of it is the kind of thing that's hard to illustrate with static images. I've uploaded a video instead of some enhanced rocketry in action. Hope you enjoy!

this mod still active? its a great mod but its a shame its not compatible with W.O.R.M or stuffswapper well atleast with me the weapons from this mod doesnt show up in worm or stuffswapper list(would be cool to mix some of these weapons with other mods weapons like weapons of apocalypse,weapon lord or even with FEBA)

Found this mod through a map I played on a Monster Hunt server and it is honestly the best mod out there. Can't wait for updates if there is going to be any.

How did you get it to work? I extracted the maps to the "maps" file and the system's folder to that of UT. I keep getting an error that files are missing when I try running the map.

I just did basically that. I'd suggest starting with a fresh installed UT though so that way nothing conflicts.

I actually meant simply MORE emphasis on melee combat, the extractor sure is an amusing weapon but I want some more melee, a sword would be soo cool
