	UT3CacheExtractor.exe  v3.0.2

The UT3 Cache Extractor is a small utility program which will extract downloaded items from your Unreal Tournament 3 cache. When you play on servers and do not have certain maps or supporting files, Unreal Tournament will automatically download them for you. The cache is a fixed size, and is purged periodically removing older items. This utility will allow you move items from the temporary cache into the appropriate Unreal Tournament folder so you will never have to download it again!

Technically, this program is Freeware, however small donation of a buck or two would be appreciated. It keeps me motivated to keep creating useful software! =) Check out the website at http://gms.cyberrock.net, or use the donation link from within the application.

== Supported Games ==

Currently, only Unreal Tournament 3 is supported in the 3.0.1 version. I will be adding support for any game that uses the Unreal 3 Engine. For previous Unreal Tournament games, such as Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Tournament 2003, or Unreal Tournament, try using my UT2004 Cache Extractor v2.1.0 (http://gms.cyberrock.net/products.php#utcacheextractor2)

== Supported Platforms ==

The UT3CacheExtractor has been tested on Windows Vista and Windows XP. It should also run just fine on Windows 7.

It will run fine on 64-bit platforms, but you may have to set the UT3 path manually. On the 'Options' menu, choose the 'Game Settings' and set your UT3 path manually. The default install location for a 64-bit OS is under your "Program Files (x86)" folder on the drive where the OS is installed, usually C:.

== Installation Instructions ==

No installation is necessary, although this application requires the Microsoft .Net 2.0 Runtime. If the application crashes immediately upon running, you are most likely missing .Net 2.0. See the instructions below for installing the time.

Simply copy the contents of this zip file to a folder of your choice. The first time you run the application, it will run a configuring wizard for you. You can use the options menu at any time to adjust your settings, or add configurations additional games supported by the UT3 Cache Extractor.

== Using the UT3 Cache Extractor ==

Hopefully, this program will be pretty self explanatory. There are two tabs, a Cache tab and a ScreenShots tab.

On the Cache tab there are three action buttons, 'Refresh', 'Extract' and 'Validate'. 'Refresh' will make sure the list is up-to-date. You can extract items by highlighting them and clicking the 'Extract' button. Multiple selections can be made by holding down the ctrl key as you click, or by using the shift key to select a range. If cache entries are made more than a few minutes apart, they will be shown with a slightly different background color. This should help identify which items were downloaded together, and are associated with a given map. IMPORTANT: Issues have been seen trying to export .u files. This happens due to the way that UT3 handles different versions of .u files and has nothing to do with the UT3 Cache Extractor. If you do decide to extract .u files and something goes wrong, simply delete the files you extracted and UT3 will download it again to you cache the next time in needs it.

The ScreenShots tab shows all the screen shots you have taken. To set your desired conversion options, open the Options menu and choose 'Application Settings'. You can convert your screenshots, move them to another folder, rename them using a date time stamp, or any combination of the three. Current targe image formats supported are:
- jpg (very small and web friendly; great if you want to upload to a website)

The UT3CacheExtractor has the ability to check the Granite Mountain Software server to see if a more recent version is available, and to take you to to the site to download it. The application will NOT auto install the update; it will just take you to the site where you can download it manually. To use this feature, choose the "Check for Updates" option from the help menu. If you wish the application to automatically check for updates each time it is run, check the "Automatically Check for Updates" menu item under the Options or Help menus. This is a totally optional feature.

== Getting the Microsoft .Net 2.0 runtimes ==

First try using Windows update. If for some reason you don't see the .Net 2.0 runtime under the optional area, try the following link for a direct download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

Microsoft moves pages around fairly frequently, so if that page does not take you to the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package page, simply go to http://download.microsoft.com and search for ".net 2.0".
