Mix and Match

for Meryl 2004

What's Mix and Match?

This is your guide to making your own skins without knowing anything about Unreal Ed. :) All you need to do is pick a face/body skin, a clothing color, and a portrait for Meryl, and voila! You have your own skin. :)

-----------------
How to get started

Start by copying and pasting the following bit of text into the Merylremix.upl file, at the bottom:

Player=(DefaultName="My_Meryl", Race="Meryl", Mesh=meryl.meryl,species=xGame.SPECIES_Merc, BodySkin=merylremix.jefe.meryl_1, FaceSkin=merylremix.jefe.meryl_clothes_red, Portrait=merylremix.jefe.meryl_port_mixandmatch, Text=XPlayers.Default, Sex=Female, Menu="SP", Accuracy=+0.52, Aggressiveness=+0.4, CombatStyle=+0.25, Tactics=+0.45,ReactionTime=+0.4, Jumpiness=+0.2,StrafingAbility=+0.55, Ragdoll=Female, TeamFace=1, BotUse=3)

What you can change: (Feel free to skip down to FaceSkin= and BodySkin=):

DefaultName: Anything you want. Choose a unique name that isn't used by any other skins or models you have installed.

Race: This only affects the groupings when selecting by race in player select screen. You can make a new race like I did for Meryl, or add your character to one of the existing races, such as the "Hellions", "Cybernetic", or "Nightmare" races, for example.

Mesh: The model. Don't change this unless you want to see this skin on another model. Not gonna be pretty, I tell ya.

Species: This variable governs which hitsounds, blood colors, and gibs will be used for your character, as well as stats while using the 'species statistics' mutator. SPECIES_Merc is the most fitting for Meryl since she's a normal human and all that, but you could make her a

xGame.SPECIES_Merc
xGame.SPECIES_Egypt
xGame.SPECIES_Jugg
xGame.SPECIES_Alien
xGame.SPECIES_Night
xGame.SPECIES_Bot
or
xGame.SPECIESSkaarj

for various hilarious effects.

BodySkin:

These texture all of Meryl's body except her clothes. Pick whatever you want, and paste into your upl entry.

merylremix.jefe +

Meryl Blonde: .meryl
Meryl Red Hair: .meryl_0
Meryl Blue Hair: .meryl_1
Meryl_74: .meryl_74
Meryl_74 Blue Hair: .meryl_74_1

FaceSkin=

This is actually her clothing. Choose one that suits you.

merylremix.jefe +

Meryl's White Dress: .meryl_maid_02
Meryl_74's Red Dress: .meryl_clothes
Dark Red Dress: .meryl_clothes_red
Orange Dress: .meryl_clothes_orange
Yellow Dress: .meryl_clothes_gold
Dark Purple Dress: .meryl_clothes_purple
Light Purple Dress: .meryl_clothes_crosshair2
Green "matrix" Dress: .meryl_clothes_crosshair1

Setting Teamface=0 will lock the normal clothing color when playing team games. This works because the "FaceSkin" actually textures her clothing, not her face. Body team colors (i.e. hair color) will still work.

In addition, You can set any of the alternate colors for the dresses as the main color by adding _0 to the end of the texture name to get the red variant, or _1 for blue. For example, bodyskin=merylremix.jefe.meryl_clothes_orange_1 would give you the blue velvety dress all the time. As before, you must also set Teamface=0 for team body skins to still work.

Portrait=

Since I used screenshots of each charcter for their portraits, yours aren't likely to match up well.

So, I made a generic "mix and match" portrait specifically for this little diversion which you can use, or you can pick one of the following:

merylremix.jefe +

Mix and match: .meryl_port_mixandmatch
Normal Meryl: .meryl_port
Meryl_74: .meryl_port_74
Meryl_blonde: .meryl_port_blonde
Meryl_blue_hair: .meryl_port_bluehair
Meryl_dark_red_dress: .meryl_port_darkred
Meryl_orange_dress: .meryl_port_orange
Meryl_yellow_dress: .meryl_port_gold
Meryl_purple_dress: .meryl_port_purple1
Meryl_74_white_dress: .meryl_port_74_w
Meryl_74_blue_hair: .meryl_port_74_b
Meryl_74_purple_dress: .meryl_port_purple2
Meryl_74_green_dress: .meryl_port_green

or you can use Epic's generic grey question mark, which is:

PlayerPictures.cDefault
(Note: Do not preface with merylremix.jefe, since it comes from a different texture file.)

Text=
This is you character's bio. If you must have one, replace "text=xplayers.default" with:

"Name: Meryl |Age:   N/A|Race:  Human||Data:|I made this.||"

Keep the format, (especially the "|"s) but change the text to whatever you want.

Sex=

Pretty obvious, isn't it?

Menu="SP"

This variable allows your character to be drafted in Single Player. Only works for characters belonging to human species, and then only after you start a new game. Make sure you patch for SP to work correctly with custom bots like meryl. ;)

Accuracy, etc.

Give your bot the skills of a uber-l33t killing machine or a hopeless newbie.

Ragdoll=

Don't mess with this variable.

TeamFace=

See Faceskin=

BotUse=

This sets how often your custom bot will randomly make an appearance when playing "Instant Action" bot matches.

0 never
1 infrequently
2 somewhat often
3 your regular gal
4 Bitch won't leave you alone

Don't know if settings above 4 work.
